The Reason it’s the Season to be Cleanin’!!
I woke up today feeling I must be the walking testimony to the effects of Winter Holiday Blahs! Before setting my intent and arranging a mental list to nudge my body back into a healthy mode, I spent a moment counting my blessisngs. That gets me feeling positive and ready to attack! But I can tell when my vitality is low and my skin looks pale and puffy that I need to get started with this “Season’s Cleanin’!
WHY??
I threw my immune system into overload when I added other activities on top of my normal daily routine.
1. Throwing a few additional dinner parties because I want to visit with…. Family and Friends.
2. I rushed around to the stores picking up small gifts for…. Family and Friends!
3. There was many additional trips to the supermarket to make all of the above happen.
4. I increased my exposure to colds & flu….Now my liver is angry.
5. And the real biggie is that I increased consumption of spicy food, sweets and alcohol.
To sum it all up, I compromised my health while trying to “Live it up” through the Holiday season and that just doesn’t make sense!
So here’s the first part of my plan:
“Clean it Up”
- Get rid of toxic buildup and hydrate my system…. have a colonic.. or two!
- I threw out the stale holiday cakes, cookies and candy that were clogging my countertops.
- It was time to empty the refrigerator of leftovers – the cooked, processed, dead and unenlivened food….This causes my body to retain acid wastes.
- For a few nights, I managed several hot soaks in nutrient rich bathwater…..Seasalts and seaweeds are great detoxifiers and help the skin to “glow”.
The second part of my plan is to “REBUILD”.
- Put the body into deliberate motion such as walking, running, yoga, swimming, rebounding…..This will kick up the circulation, and help to clear the respiratory organs.
- Drink 5 – 8 glasses of healthy water with the juice of fresh squeezed lemon….This is very alkalizing.
- Get fresh air to my lungs.
- Replenish the fruit and vegetable bins in my refrigerator….Don’t forget the fresh garlic and ginger root to discourage parasites and help with digestive secretions!
- Juice some of those veggies in combos such as cucumber, kale, celery and carrot….This boosts internal flushing and rebuilding of nutrients flowing to the blood. I enjoy drinking these juiced veggies as a meal or before a meal.
- Kick up the fiber intake… I suggest eating more raw fruits and vegetables and/or adding powder blended from dehydrated fruits, grains, berries, barks, leaves and some helpful herbs. Mixed in fruit juice before breakfast will assist the peristalsis.
- PROBIOTICS!!!!!!!!!!……These guys work for you by cleaning up the walls of your intestines, helps the body to manufacture B vitamins and neurotransmitters for your brain health, and to have more efficient uptake of nutrients into your blood.
- Digestive Enzymes…..If you eat primarily cooked food, the enzymes have been cooked out and this leaves your body in a state of bankruptcy. They are essential to digestion and absorption.
- Get proper rest. (Whew! I’m pooped)!
Now I not only have a plan, I’ve cleaned my kitchen! The body is next, and all the steps I’ve outlined will cover the respiratory, digestive, circulatory, immune, muscular, skeletal and pulmonary systems of the body. I know implementing this plan for the most of 09 will see me grandly to the next holiday season!
